About us
The McMah family race team
A home-built team with a karting champion behind the wheel and a family in the pit lane.
The name
Grandad's mark.
Ian's grandfather engraved MXM into his hand tools, because MCM was too hard to cut cleanly by hand.
Those tools taught a family how to fix things properly. The team carries his mark today, on the car, the suit and every tool in the workshop.

The driver
Ian McMah
Ian has raced for more than 30 years, mostly in national and state level karting, with more than 250 wins in club, state and national competition. He's also a qualified mechanic, so he knows car 50 inside and out.
He won the 2012 Australian ProKart Endurance Championship and three Queensland titles before moving into cars for 2026 in a race-winning Hyundai Excel, car 50.
His first season in cars brought a front row start at The Bend, a class win at Bathurst and the State of Origin win at Queensland Raceway.

The team
Home-built. Family run.
We prepare, repair and run car 50 ourselves from our home workshop in South East Queensland. Ian is a qualified mechanic and Katy is a qualified spray painter, so the spanner work and the paintwork both stay in the family.
The crew is family, and the people who feel like family. Team chief Greg Robertson and IT support Darryl Roberts aren't only part of the team, they're close family friends.
Off the track, Ian leads sales and marketing for a national finance company, so he knows a partnership has to earn its keep.

The car
Car 50
A race-spec 1999 Hyundai Excel, originally built as a race car by the Rinaldi racing family. It's powered by a Peterbuilt race engine built by Peter Herriman in Queensland.
Excel racing keeps the cars tightly matched, so driver skill and setup decide the results. Rounds often draw 30 to 40 or more entries, and Bathurst has seen Excel grids of more than 60 cars.

All Access Motorsport
Room for everyone at the track.
Ian also directs All Access Motorsport. The whole team works to give people with disability real roles at the track, as crew and contributors, not only as spectators.
For 2026 and 2027, All Access Motorsport is running an Excel racing pilot and inclusion program, and is looking for founding partners to help it grow.
